Idea for if anyone wanted to make Asgard a reaaaaally terrifying place; extend the idea of might makes right to the healers.
(tw: lack of consent, forced body and mental modification, lack of choice)

People in the healing halls can't refuse treatment unless they can forcibly stop it. Some coma patients have been forcibly kept alive for decades because they can't stop it from happening and the healers won't let them die. Others are eventually woken up as medicine advances and are expected to accept it.

Anyone with a mental imbalance, from tiny to huge, can have that changed at any time. If a healer detects it, they can choose to change it at any time. Someone who was mourning a partner could suddenly have their brain changed back to "normal". Someone in the middle of a panic attack could suddenly have it forced away. Someone in the middle of a manic time could be brought back down. Unless the people had the knowledge, focus, and power to stop it, they wouldn't have a choice.

Getting hurt with a healer on the street has a low chance of lasting. Small children rough-housing can walk away without even a bruise and never learn that they wouldn't naturally heal that fast. A blade being tossed around resulting in a bad wound could be healed in an instant, and the person would never know exactly how bad the damage would have been.

One of the only safe spaces would be the sparring rings, imbued with magic to keep healing out to prevent cheating. Still, afterwards, warriors might walk away with not even a sore muscle to their name. Training with a healer around could be rather useless, and muscles are instantly healing instead of being given a chance to build up. The only way to stop a healer instead of avoid them would be to use force, and in Asgard, warriors would very rarely have the magical prowess for that.

Visiting envoys from other realms would probably have the worst of it, especially as Asgard views itself as superior. Healers would probably consider it kind to scan over the newcomers and heal and disease or injury they found. Any place where having one disease prevents getting another, worse, one? Be prepared to give up that immunity. New tattoos, gained through blood, sweat, and tears? Better hope they're fully healed, otherwise they might be healed away. Permanent injuries or birth defects? Prepare to relearn how to move, live, and interact with people, they're gone now.
